Benjamin’s Hope Prepares to Welcome West Michigan Community for Annual Harvest Festival

West Michigan residents and families are preparing to gather once again for a traditional seasonal celebration as Benjamin’s Hope announces the return of its annual Harvest Festival. The upcoming event offers area community members an open and welcoming opportunity to experience an afternoon filled with family-friendly entertainment, interactive seasonal activities, and inclusive community fellowship.

Scheduled to take place on September 19, the community celebration will run from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on the organization’s campus situated at 15468 Riley St. near Holland. Organizers have established the gathering as a free public event, ensuring that neighborhood families, supporters, and regional visitors can participate without encountering any financial barriers.

The festival lineup features an extensive roster of traditional autumn pastimes designed to engage visitors across all age groups. Attendees will have the opportunity to take scenic hayrides across the farmstead property, participate in creative pumpkin decorating stations, and enjoy a broad variety of hands-on, interactive games organized throughout the event grounds.

In addition to classic agricultural and autumn-themed activities, the event will provide attendees with live musical entertainment and diverse food options to enhance the celebratory environment. Enthusiasts of vintage craftsmanship will also be able to view a curated display of antique motor vehicles brought in specifically for the occasion, offering historical interest alongside the day's casual family recreation.

Local hobbyists and specialized regional organizations are slated to play an active role in enriching the day’s scheduled attractions. Among the featured community contributors is the Holland Modular Train Club, whose members will present intricate model railway displays that provide mechanical demonstrations and visual engagement for railroad enthusiasts and young children alike.

Nature and wildlife interaction will also serve as a centerpiece of the afternoon’s schedule, courtesy of an educational collaboration with the Outdoor Discovery Center. Through this regional partnership, festival guests will have the chance to encounter and learn about live animals in an accessible setting designed to foster environmental appreciation and curiosity.

The afternoon celebration will further strengthen civic relationships by incorporating opportunities for the public to meet and interact with local emergency first responders. Welcoming local public safety personnel onto the grounds allows neighborhood families to connect directly with community helpers in an approachable, positive environment, reinforcing the festival’s broader emphasis on community cohesion.

At its core, the annual festival serves as an open demonstration of the organization’s foundational mission of universal acceptance. Co-founder Krista Mason highlighted that the organization was built on the core vision of establishing an environment where every individual feels a genuine sense of belonging, describing the Harvest Festival as one of the most vivid and meaningful realizations of that long-term aspiration.

Mason emphasized that the scheduled festivities represent far more than a simple seasonal gathering or a pleasant afternoon out for local families. She noted that the event functions as a celebration of inclusion and community solidarity, while simultaneously serving as a direct expression of gratitude toward the West Michigan region for the immense backing and support the organization has received over the years.

The historical roots of Benjamin’s Hope trace back more than twenty years, beginning when founders Krista and Dave Mason first relocated to the Holland area. Upon establishing themselves in the region, the couple recognized an urgent necessity for specialized, supportive environments that could cater to individuals with developmental differences as they grew into adulthood.

The inspiration for creating the non-profit organization originated directly from their son, Ben, who is profoundly affected by autism. Motivated by their personal experiences and the desire to secure a supportive future for their son, the founders set out to build a comprehensive model of care that moved beyond standard services to address the lifelong requirements of neurodiverse adults.

Through this vision, the Masons developed a distinct farmstead community centered entirely around the fundamental principles of purpose, mutual respect, and total acceptance. The specialized setting is tailored to provide adults living with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental differences with meaningful daily roles, secure social connections, and an environment in which they can truly thrive.

Since its initial inception, the nonprofit organization has steadily expanded its campus footprint and residential capacity to serve the West Michigan area. Today, Benjamin’s Hope provides comprehensive housing and continuous support for more than 40 adults, housing its residential community across a neighborhood of eight dedicated farm-style residences designed to foster comfort and mutual support.

Beyond its full-time residential accommodations, the organization operates targeted daytime programming tailored toward practical personal growth and development. These specialized initiatives concentrate on teaching vital everyday life skills, nurturing supportive interpersonal relationships, and cultivating sustainable independence for every participant who engages with the farmstead’s programs.

By opening its doors for the Harvest Festival on September 19, Benjamin’s Hope bridges its specialized residential campus with the broader West Michigan public. The annual gathering stands as an enduring reflection of the organization’s founding ideals, uniting residents, families, and regional neighbors in a shared celebration of acceptance, recreation, and community partnership.
